The Survivors Life After War Book 1 eBook Angela White

I have just finished the first 8 books without a break to read any other books. That is no easy task since they probably average 750 pages each for an estimated total of 6,000 pages. I received books 1 through 3 free not realizing what was in store for me. I was immediately hooked on the story and characters. So, I immediately bought the remaining 5 books and came across a surprise. I must warn potential readers of 2 things.
First, all of these books could stand some serious proofreading. Missing words, redundancies, punctuation errors, and misspellings are fairly rampant. However the books are so interesting that I overlooked them all..
Secondly, the books contain an element of fantasy that caught me off-guard. I generally don't read fantasy (except The Healers of Meligna by K.J. Colt). fortunately the fantasy fits in well and actually adds to the story and characters.
I initially thought there were only 8 books in the series but when I finished Book #8, I realized there will be at least one more but not for another 9 months.
This is a good apocalyptic genre story. I like it so much that I immediately purchased a 3 book series by this author. I enjoy lengthy novels and Ms White manages to keep them interesting. I have no doubt that I will have read everything she has written prior to end of summer.

The Survivors Life After War Book 1 eBook Angela White Reviews

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the general idea behind this novel; however, there was quite a bit of military "talk" and protocol that bored the tears out of me. Whether it was running drills, passing gun tests, or just the military talk between the Eagles and trainees, it got old. Angela was my favorite character. While I understand her fears for trying to rekindle her relationship with Marc, I think she's ridiculous to not even try. It annoyed me that after all the growth she experienced as a female character in a male-empowered land, she still denied herself happiness. I would have liked to see her use her powers more too. Oh, and it seemed incongruous that Safe Haven is supposedly this forward-thinking group of survivors where women are treated respectfully yet behind closed "doors" the men still make disgusting comments about them.
I sort of stumbled upon this series based upon a Librarything.com recommendation from other books I had been reading. I didn’t really thing much of it because I could get the first two books together for free for my and figured it wasn’t that big of a deal if it was free, right? Wow, was I wrong!

I’ll admit that I bought it and read the first chapter, which was somewhat slow for me, so I put the book down for another. I decided to pick it back up after finishing my other readings, now I just wish I had started this sooner! The way the books are written just draws you into the story and never lets you go. I never thought before that I would wish to be part of a Post-Apocalyptic world until I started reading this series! But the dark lies and secrets that art hinted at, will they ever come out? Will dreams become fruition? Will they all live?

The best and worst thing about this series is that it keeps you wanting more. Every single time a book ends on a cliff hanger, you need the rest. I picked up the first book a few months ago and am glad that there are already 6 books in the series (so far) so that I can just jump to the next book without being stuck on a cliff hanger for months while waiting for the next book to come out. If you haven’t started this series yet, start now while the first book or two are still free!

If you enjoy books with post-apocalyptic worlds, zombies, magic, covert military ops, violence, revenge, lies and secrets…. Then you will love this series! Pick it up now!
Great story line. I love the concept of this story and appreciate all of the ideas. I originally read the first edition and that was very difficult for me to read. I continued to read all of the books because I liked the ideas in the books. When I first started the series I thought it was about zombies, which is a genre I like to read. I was initially disappointed but the books have proven to be very good. I am rereading the series again before I go on to the most current book.
I enjoyed this book so much I bought the rest of the series. This is from a guy that has selected only free books for the past years. This book includes books 1, 2. What an amazing imagination to arrive and to describe in realistic details what might happen after a global war. That coupled with some sci-fi, along with great characters has grabbed me. I did finish the first in this series today and after submitting this review, I well open book 3.
If The Survivors had been a straight post apocalyptic fiction book, I'd still be reading it.

I hate Zombie Books, even though the 'zombies' here are survivors suffering from radioation poisoning and only called zombies, so I won't hold that against the author.

The other kind of book I hate are fantasy-paranormal stories. The Survivors has a character who is a witch. Not just someone who fancies herself as a witch through new age mumbo jumbo, but an actual witch who casts spells with immediate results. Evil results.

Some reviewers have likened The Survivors to The Stand, by Stephen King. I don't see the comparison at all.

This book seems to be well written but I just keep waiting for it to get even somewhat interesting. I quit at the 56% point. It just wasn't doing it for me.

I don't expect a world where 90% of the people are killed by radiation and each other to be non-stop action, but I DO expect SOMETHING interesting to happen at the very least.
